Matthew Smucker is a Seattle based scenic designer, whose recent work includes: Flight, The Ugly American, Bach at Leipzig, Jumpers, and Black Coffee for ACT Theatre; Living Out for Seattle Repertory Theatre; Nora and Blue/Orange for Intiman Theatre; The Devil and Daniel Webster, The Secret Garden, The Outsiders and The Gingerbread Man for the Seattle Children's Theatre; Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business for Childsplay Theatre in Phoenix, Living Out at Missouri Repertory Theatre in Kansas City; No Exit and Saving Grace for Tacoma Actors Guild; Strange Attractors and G-D Doesn't Pay Rent Here at The Empty Space; and Cry the Beloved Country and Giant for Book-It Repertory Theatre. As a resident designer and company member at Annex Theatre, Matthew created over a dozen designs with the company including The Changeling, Sex, and The Glory Booty Club. Matthew is currently an adjunct faculty member in the fine arts department at Seattle University, and a teaching artist at the Seattle Center High School in design and production. Matthew received his MFA in scenic design from the University of Washington. A DXM founding ensemble member, Matthew is married to the lovely and talented fellow company member Andrea Allen, with whom he shares access to a gray cat with a funny name.
